- Archondiko
Archondiko is a small village outside the Greek town of
Gianitsa , and is quite close to the village ofMessiano . A lot of people who nowadays live inGianitsa can trace their lineage back to Archondiko. The village is pretty small and can be driven through in about a minute. It is famous for its small church. Archondiko is also a small village located 32 km south ofHeraklion Crete . It has a small population of 200-300 which mainly deal in the production of olive oil. The nearest town isArkalochori (2km) which caters for all the Archondiko residents needs. The promise of employment has moved many of the residents to cities likeHeraklion ,Athens and alsoSydney Australia . Most of these residents return to the village during the summer months.
