Scott Randall Baugh (born
July 4 1962 ) is a Republican U.S.politician , who served in theCalifornia State Assembly from 1995-2000, representing the 67th District in coastal Orange County, which included Huntington Beach, Cypress, Fountain Valley, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, Westminster, Rossmoor, Sunset Beach, Surfside, and Midway City.Born in
Redding, California as the fourth of Helen and Cason Baugh's five sons, Baugh earned hisBachelor of Science inBusiness Administration in 1984 atLiberty University , graduating "Summa Cum Laude ". He then earned hisJuris Doctor in 1987 at the University of the Pacific,McGeorge School of Law , where he finished fifth in a class of 200. He then became an attorney inHuntington Beach, California .In November 1995, he was elected to the Assembly upon the recall of Assembly Speaker Doris Allen. Baugh served as the Assembly Republican Leader from 1999 until 2000.
Term limits forced Baugh out of the Assembly in 2000.In 2004, Baugh was elected Chairman of the Republican Party of Orange County.
In March 2007, Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, seeking the GOP nod for president in 2008, announced that Scott Baugh would serve as a member of his California statewide finance committee.
Baugh lives in Huntington Beach with his wife, Wendy, and son, Jackson.
