village in the metropolitan borough of Barnsley inSouth Yorkshire ,England .Bisected by the A635 Huddersfield Road, Wilthorpe has several small shops including a Chinese takeaway, a hair salon, and a convenience store. There is an infant and junior school located on Greenfoot Lane, as well as an ATS garage and a dentist on Huddersfield Road.
Wilthorpe sits in the S75 area of Barnsley, along with the neighbouring areas of

The local pub The Wilthorpe Hotel is central to life in the village, offering a range of pub meals, including an all day breakfast, and locally produced beers. The Wilthorpe Hotel has recently lowered all prices due to a drop in popularity. Many locals blame the smoking ban as the cause, despite the covered smoking area to the rear.
Landmarks
The main attraction in Wilthorpe is the park, with stunning rose gardens, a reclaimed wildlife area, and a playground.The Emmanuel Church serves this particular area of west Barnsley, built in the late 90's. It also serves as a village hall with several events and clubs held there every weekTinkers Pond is situated at the bottom of Woodstock Road. This fishing spot used to be a mine shaft and is reported to be at least 500ft deep in the centre.
