- Robert Abraham (1774-1850)
Robert Abraham was an English building surveyor and later
architect inLondon . He was the son of a builder and was educated as a surveyor as a pupil ofJames Bowen . He turned toarchitecture after 1818, and was chiefly employed by the leadingRoman Catholic families inEngland , including theDuke of Norfolk and theEarl of Shrewsbury .He was respected by his patrons principally for his reliability, but he was competent in the various styles fashionable at the period. He was married to
Eliza Brown (died 1818), an accomplished flower-painter, and their sonH.R. Abraham succeeded to his practice when he died on11 December 1850 . His eldest daughter marriedRichard Bethell , Lord Westbury, who served asLord Chancellor in 1861-1865.List of works
