Huddersfield Media Centre project

Huddersfield Media Centre project

The Huddersfield Media Centre opened its doors in 1995. The first building was on Northumberland Street, Huddersfield, and only a third of it was in use when the centre opened. The success of the first companies based in the centre and their rapid expansion needs meant that by 2000 the building was fully converted and full of media businesses.

The Huddersfield Media Centre opened its second building in November 2001, this is located immediately adjacent to the main Media Centre building opposite the old open Market. These new offices were designed by award winning architects Bauman-Lyons and provide a wide range of studio and office spaces to meet the requirements of media and design business.

In 2002, the Creative Lofts were opened by Rt. Hon. Nigel Griffiths, Minister for Small Business. The Lofts provide live-work spaces for the Creative Industries and are managed by Media Centre Network.

There is a live video stream of the busy marketplace in Northumberland Street [http://www.townlocal.co.uk/bogwatch.php] from the Media Centre running GMT 9am till 5:30pm.

Work is now under way to further extend the Media Centre on Northumberland Street.
