A panelist is a member of a
panel. The role a panelist plays depends upon the duties of the panel.
A panelist can be a member of a
committeeor in legal arenas, a jury. In the Westminster system, it can be a member of a Select committee or a Standing committee.
On television, panelists participate in discussions led by a program's
moderatoror presenter. Examples of shows, past and present, utilizing this format include
Talk/Chat shows such as Australia's " The Panel", Ireland's "The Panel", "Fast Money", " Around the Horn"
Panel gameshows such as Canada's Love Me, Love Me Not", " Figure It Out", " I've Got a Secret", and " Match Game"
*Public affairs programming such as "This Week" and "
The McLaughlin Group".
Radio shows such as "
Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me!" and " Stop Me If You've Heard This One" also feature panelists.
