binomial_authority = Goto & Last, 2002 The ginger carpetshark, "Parascyllium sparsimaculatum", is a carpetshark of the family Parascylliidae found off Western Australia, at depths of between 205 and 245 m. Its length is up to 78 cm, but only three specimens are known.

The ginger carpetshark has a large pectoral fin. The second dorsal fin is a little smaller than the first.

Coloration is light yellowish-brown with relatively few, large, diffuse-edged, rusty-brown spots, the collar-like saddle over the gill region being extremely faint. Reproduction is oviparous.
