Katharine Price Collier St. George (
July 12 ,1894 -May 2 ,1983 ) was a Republican member of theUnited States House of Representatives fromNew York .St. George was born in Bridgnorth, England. She moved with her family to the United States at the age of two. She was a member of the town board of
Tuxedo Park, New York from 1926 until 1949. She was chair of the Orange County Republican committee from 1942 until 1948. She was a delegate to the1944 Republican National Convention . She was elected to Congress in 1946 and served fromJanuary 3 ,1947 untilJanuary 3 ,1965 . (Her opponent in the 1956 election was Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonistBill Mauldin .) She lost a re-election bid in 1964 against DemocratJohn G. Dow .St. George married George Baker Bligh St. George (see
