Reid State Park

Reid State Park

Reid State Park is a state park on Georgetown Island, in Sagadahoc County, Maine. There are several naturally sandy beaches which contrast with the usually rocky coast of Maine. The conditions make for excellent (if chilly) swimming during the summer months, with a natural inlet providing a somewhat warmer and quieter swimming area for children. Picnic areas with tables and grills are provided, as well as a full bath house.

Wildlife commonly found along the beaches include sandpipers, least terns, clams and mussels.

The land in the park was given to the people of Maine in 1946 by Walter Reid, a native of Georgetown who made his fortune in shipping. [Information derived from the Maine Department of Natural Resources.]
