The Rev. Robert Brisco Earée (1846-1928) was a
philatelist , known for his studies ofphilatelic fakes and forgeries . Philately is the study of postage stamps.Earée was educated at
Cockermouth Grammar School , a British boys' school inCumbria , and became a priest in 1871. He followedW. D. Atlee andE. L. Pemberton as the author of a series of articles, 'The Spud Papers' (describing forgeries) in "The Philatelist". He also served as philatelic editor of "The Bazaar" [1875] . Earée compiled the classic "Album Weeds or How to Detect Forged Stamps" [1882] (3rd revised edition, 1906).Earée was entered on the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 1921.
