List of stamp forgers

Soon after their introduction in 1840, postage stamps became philatelic objects, and philatelic fakes and forgeries to the detriment of the collector became a problem. The first book about the topic was written by Jean-Baptiste Moens from Belgium "De la falsifications des timbres-poste" in 1862. Shortly thereafter Edward Loines Pemberton published "Forged Stamps: How to detect them" and Robert Brisco Earée "Album Weeds". Stamps produced by notable forgers have become collectibles, as well.

Notorious and famous stamp forgers include:

* Rainer Blüm
* Sigmund Friedl
* Georges Fouré
* François Fournier
* David Alan "Georgie" Gee
* The London Gang: Benjamin, Sarpys, and Jeffryes
* Erasmus Oneglia
