Its length is up to 26 cm.The pygmy lanternshark's body is almost cylindrical, with rather narrow eyes and a pale naked patch on the upper eyelid. The
caudal peduncle is elongate. Thedenticle s are arranged in longitudinal rows on flanks andcaudal peduncle , but not on the head. The seconddorsal fin is more than twice the height of the first. It is found on thecontinental shelves and upper slopes.Coloration is dark greyish or black, with faint dark markings behind the
pelvic fin s, on thecaudal peduncle , and thecaudal fin . The fins are pale with dark margins. Reproduction isovoviviparous .References
