mpassengers=Sri Rampai is a rapid transit station in northern
Kuala Lumpur ,Malaysia , forming part of theKelana Jaya Line (formerly known as PUTRA). The station, named after the nearby "Taman Sri Rampai" housing estate to the west, is located along the border between "Taman Sri Rampai" and "Wangsa Maju " to the eastDisuse
Sri Rampai station is currently the only unused station along the Kelana Jaya Line, remaining closed from passenger access for years despite having been partially built and listed on transit maps several years since the launch of the Kelana Jaya Line (only recently has the station been blacked out or removed from such maps). Completion of the station stopped after a project it was supposed to serve had been halted. As such, all Kelana Jaya trains are programmed to simply pass Sri Rampai station. The station's opening is further delayed as the capacity on the line is not able to handle a new station opening with the current train configuration of 2-cars. As such, the station may only open once the line capacity is increased with the arrival of the 4-car trains from August 2008 onwards.
Design
The station is a two-level at-grade station, with the platform areas (containing two
side platform s) constructed below the surface, while the rest of the structure is located above on the surface. The station is the only kind along the line to be at-grade, compared to other stations' respectable elevated or underground design.Flooding
The Sri Rampai station was known for disrupting services along the entire Kelana Jaya Line when the station's tracks were inundated by water from a flash flood on the evening of
August 25 ,2006 . Several hours of service delays along the Kelana Jaya Line resulted, causing major passenger congestions between the KLCC station and the Kuala Lumpur Sentral station. Services were gradually restored by 8:30 pm (MST).cite web |url=http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/8/26/nation/15252390&sec=nation |title= LRT services disrupted by flooding at new station |accessdate=2007-05-17 |author=Dharmender Singh|date=2006-08-26 |publisher="The Star" Online ]References
