The network also broadcasts manyPublic Radio International programs includingThis American Life andTo the Point and many programs from American Public Media, includingMarketplace Money ,Performance Today ,A Prairie Home Companion , andThe Splendid Table . Red River Radio broadcasts many independently produced programs such asHearts of Space ,Women in Music ,Smart City ,Calling All Pets , andWith Heart and Voice .Red River Radio provides local news weekday mornings during Morning Edition. In 2005, news producer Kate Archer pioneered a community newsgathering effort called the Community Correspondent program in which residents of the community borrow equipment from the network to produce local stories for broadcast during the local newscasts.
Other local programming includes Prysm, a showcase of local culture, food, and entertainment, and No Cover, an interview and music program featuring local talent. Numerous local commentators provide interesting and often compelling commentary throughout the day.
Like most public radio stations, Red River Radio is funded primarily by its members. Twice each year, the network conducts a membership campaign pledge drive to pay for programming and ongoing operational costs. For the past several pledge drives, Red River Radio has failed to meet its membership goals.
