Alfred "Terry" Terance Kinard (born November 24, 1959 in Bitburg, West Germany), is a former professional American football player who was selected by the New York Giants in the 1st round (10th overall) of the 1983 NFL Draft. A 6'1", 200-lb. safety from Clemson University, Kinard played in 8 seasons in the National Football League for the Giants (1983-1989) and the Houston Oilers (1990).

During his collegiate playing days at Clemson, Kinard was a two-time All-American defensive back and a first-team Associated Press All-American two years in a row. He was the CBS National Defensive Player of the Year in 1982 and selected to the "USA Today" All-College Football Team in the 1980s. Kinard is the all-time Clemson leader in interceptions with 17 and tackles by a defensive back with 294.

Kinard was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001.

His college career did not start smoothly. He suffered a separated shoulder in his first game and was out the rest of the season [http://www.collegefootball.org/famersearch.php?id=80043] . He later said that having to redshirt turned out to be a good thing, as he wasn't physically ready to compete as a freshman [http://clemsontigers.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/110501aaj.html] .
