God's advocate

God's advocate (Latin: _la. Advocatus Dei; also known as the Promoter of the cause) is a participant in canonization proceeding of the Roman Catholic Church. John Hardon] God's advocate is charged with making the argument in favor of canonization. God's advocate is opposed by the Devil's advocate, whose job is to find all possible flaws with a potential candidate.
