Guzamn

Guzamn is one of the 105 woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Misraq Gojjam Zone, Guzamn is bordered on the south by Baso Liben, on the southwest by the Abay River which separates it from the Oromia Region, on the west by Machakel, on the northwest by Debay Telatgen, and on the east by Awabel; the town and woreda of Debre Marqos is an enclave inside Guzamn. Towns in Guzamn include Chemoga, Rob Gebeya and Yebokile.

The highest point in this woreda and in the Misraq Gojjam Zone is Mount Choqa (also known as Mount Birhan), a part of the Choqa Mountains, with an elevation of 4154 meters.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 258,036, of whom 130,163 were males and 127,873 were females; 6,047 or 2.34% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 10.7%. With an estimated area of 1,704.73 square kilometers, Guzamn has an estimated population density of 151.4 people per square kilometer, which is less than the Zone average of 166.35.
