Misraq Gojjam Zone , Enbise Sar Midir is bordered on the south byEnarj Enawga , on the west byGoncha Siso Enese , and on the north and east byAbay River which separates it from theDebub Wollo Zone . The woreda capital isMerto Lemariam ; other towns in Enbise Sar Midir includeDibo . The highest point in this woreda isMount Amonewas (also known as Mount Yecodach), with an elevation of 3664 meters.Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 149,180, of whom 75,517 were males and 73,66 were females; 12,783 or 8.57% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 10.7%. With an estimated area of 1,043.13 square kilometers, Enbise Sar Midir has an estimated population density of 143 people per square kilometer, which is less than the Zone average of 166.35. This woreda was selected as one of the three areas for Agri-Service Ethiopia to implement an Integrated Food Security Program. This Program operates in 10 of the woreda's kebeles, with the goal of improving agricultural practices, developing new rural water sources, conserving use of local natural resources, training community health workers and building new schools.
