Exploits Valley Salmon Festival

The Exploits Valley Salmon Festival is an annual cultural festival in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador. The festival began in as a three-day regional celebration in honor of the Atlantic Salmon migration. To enhance environmental awareness and focus attention on one of nature's most spectacular phenomena the weekend of "Fun and Fish While the Salmon Run" was developed.

Now the Exploits Valley Salmon Festival, a major international festival, brings many visitors from all over the world to the community of Grand Falls-Windsor. From 1991 to 1998, the festival was selected by American Bus Association as one of North America's Top 100 Events.

The festival has the popular events such as the Salmon Dinner, "Newfie Night", which highlights traditional food and music of the province, and the "Splash Concert". The "Splash Concert" is a day long concert held at Centennial Field.

The concerts have featured world class entertainment such as Waylon Jennings, The Rankin Family, the Irish Descendants and Great Big Sea. Grand Falls-Windsor has also held several other concerts such as Bon Jovi in 1995 and the Canada Day Beach Boys Concert in 1990.

The 2008 Salmon Festival Concert line-up was announced May 28, 2008, on the official website. The 2008 Salmon Festival will run from July 17, 2008 until July 21, 2008.
