December 4 ,1916 –October 28 ,1983 ) was born inBonne Terre, Missouri . He was 25 years old when he broke into the Major Leagues onApril 14 ,1942 for theSt. Louis Cardinals . OnApril 15 ,1946 he was purchased by the Boston Braves for $25,000. OnMarch 6 ,1948 he was traded withBama Rowell and $40,000 to theBrooklyn Dodgers forEddie Stanky . OnApril 18 , 1948 he was purchased by the Boston Braves for $60,000. His final game wasSeptember 1 ,1949 . Sanders died in an automobile accident inWashington, Missouri .Teams
