Lay Betna Tach Bet (Amharic "The Upper House and Lower House") is one of the 105
woreda s in theAmhara Region ofEthiopia . Part of the Semien Shewa Zone, Lay Betna Tach Bet is bordered on the south bySiyadebrina Wayu Ensaro , on the west by theOromia Region , on the north byWeremo Wajetuna Midarema , on the northeast byGera Midira Keya Gebriel , and on the east byMoretna Jiru . TheJamma River defines this woreda's southern and eastern boundaries, and its tributary the Qechene defines its western and northern. The administrative center isAlem Ketema ; other towns in this woreda includeFetira .Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 136,746, of whom 67,663 were males and 69,083 were females; 15,630 or 11.43% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 11.8%. With an estimated area of 952.35 square kilometers, Lay Betna Tach Bet has an estimated population density of 143.6 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 134.37.
