Alexis Ruano Delgado (born August 4, 1985 in Málaga), simply known as Alexis, is a Spanish professional footballer. He plays as a central defender for Valencia CF in "La Liga".

Football career

Alexis joined Getafe CF from Málaga CF for the 2006-07 season. He had played for the Andalusia club for three seasons, having graduated from the side's youth ranks (he would first appear for the first team on February 15, 2004, playing 8 minutes in a 5-2 home win against RCD Espanyol). He scored the winning goal for Getafe against Real Madrid, in a 1-0 league win on 14 October 2006, and was part of the league's best defence that season (only 33 goals in 38 games).

Alexis' impressive performances for Getafe attracted some of the world's biggest clubs including AC Milan, Valencia CF, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Valencia won his services and signed him to a deal (6.5 millions) at the Mestalla that ran until at least 2013, beating off competition from Real Madrid. After spending most of 2007-08 sidelined with a severe knee injury, Alexis helped Valencia win the 2008 Spanish Cup, scoring the second goal (11th minute) in their 3-1 win over his former club Getafe in the final, after Juan Manuel Mata had scored the opener. Veteran Fernando Morientes closed the scoring sheet.

On September 14, 2008 Alexis, who started the season as Raúl Albiol centre-back partner, netted in a 2-2 draw at UD Almería.
