Taco Anema (born
May 11 1950 ,Bloemendaal ) is a Dutchphotographer .Taco Anema started his career as a photographer working for
newspaper s and magazines in theNetherlands , such as "De Groene Amsterdammer", "De Volkskrant", and "NRC-Handelsblad". Recently he has focused more and more on freelance work and traveled worldwide for projects that show daily life through adapted stories and realities.Anema divides his time between assignments and his own documentary projects. Although these are two different worlds with their own dynamics, both are important and both relate to the reality of everyone, everyday, everywhere.
Recent works include "The World of Energy" (2000), "Seeds of Change" (2001), "Document Nederland" (2004), and "Tales of Water, A Child’s View" (2006). For "Tales of Water", Anema visited 16 different countries for a multimedia documentary project on children and water in daily life. To transform the understanding of water and to raise awareness about the role water plays in people’s lives, the project portrays children who live at the banks of five rivers on five continents. Their observations on current water issues are revealed through stories, photography, and filming Leigh Smith.
Anema's current project is "One Hundred Dutch Families "(Honderd Hollandse Huishoudens), scheduled for completion in 2007.
Anema has worked with corporations including
KLM ,Philips ,CSM , andWolters Kluwer , and public organizations and institutions including the Holland Festival, TheRijksmuseum Amsterdam , and Air Traffic Control the Netherlands. His work is shown in many galleries and museums in the Netherlands and abroad, and has been published in several books.
