Clayton Counts

Clayton Counts (August 19, 1973 - December 24, 2007?) is an American writer, composer, and musician, best known for a mash-up album he released under the pseudonym The Beachles, which combined The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds". The collection is controversial and resulted in a cease and desist order. [* [http://www.startribune.com/blogs/websearch/?p=109 Cease and Desist] , Minneapolis Star-Tribune article] In addition, EMI demanded that Counts relinquish the IP addresses of people who downloaded or streamed the songs. He refused to do so, instead responding with a lengthy tirade on his blog. [* [http://claytoncounts.com/blog/the-beachles The Beachles] , Clayton Counts' Beachles page]

Contributions

Counts has written articles for magazines like "FringeWare Review" under several pen names. He composes experimental and drone music for his band ColoringBook, which makes use of live strings and other eclectic instrumentation, found sound, electronic manipulation, and minimalist techniques.
