Fabio Grossi

Fabio Grossi (born 1977 in Rome) is an Italian dancer with international experience.

Early life

He trained at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Italy, where he graduated with full marks.

He also studied with Marika Besobrasova in Monte-Carlo, Rosella Hightower in Cannes, Wilhelm Burmann in Geneva, Philip Beamish in Milan and Raymond Franchetti in Marseilles.

Career

At age 19, Grossi was a First Prize Winner at the Rieti Competition in Italy and the only Italian to be a Finalist and a Diploma Winner at the 1997 Moscow International Competition in Russia, which was directed by Yuri Grigorovich.

In 1997, he made his debut with Aterballetto (Italy). Grossi then worked with:

* the Grand Théatre de Genève,
* the Leipziger Ballett,
* the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and
* the Ballet National de Marseille.

Fabio Grossi performed lead roles in ballets by George Balanchine, Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, Uwe Scholz, Ohad Naharin, Robert North, Amedeo Amodio, Marie-Claude Pietragalla, Mauro Bigonzetti and many others.

From 2003 to 2007, he has been one of the leading dancers of the Rome Opera Ballet performing as partner of Italian Ballerina Carla Fracci.

Accomplishments

As a Principal Dancer, Grossi's repertoire includes nearly all of the major classical, neoclassical and romantic roles in the most famous ballets such as Giselle, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Mikhail Fokine's Les Sylphides and Petrushka, Léonide Massine's Pulcinella and George Balanchine's "La Chatte" and "The Ball".

At the Rome Opera House, numerous principal roles in new ballet and contemporary works (by Luciano Cannito, Paul Chalmer, Luca Veggetti and many others) have been made especially for him.

Fabio Grossi is regarded with appreciation as one of the most talented Italian dancers of the young generation.

He won the Léonide Massine Dance Award in Positano twice, as an Emerging Talent in 1997 and as a Principal Dancer in 2007, and the Anita Bucchi Dance Award as Best Male Dancer in 2007.
