Tsuruhashi Station

Tsuruhashi Station

There are three train stations named nihongo|Tsuruhashi|鶴橋駅|"Tsuruhashi-eki"| in the Tsuruhashi district of Ikuno-ku, Osaka, Japan; the Osaka Loop Line, the Kintetsu Osaka Line, the Kintetsu Nara Line, and the Osaka Municipal Subway Sennichimae Line.

While much of Japan is sanitized, the area directly surrounding Tsuruhashi station is reminisent of a bygone era. Stepping out of the station, you encounter smells unlike the rest of Japan. This area of Osaka is well-known for its bulgogi (Korean-style barbecue) restaurants and other Korean goods. Under the tracks, you will find a labyrinth of stalls selling everything from Korean wedding dresses, fake brand goods [ [大阪「偽ブランド商店街」http://www.j-cast.com/tv/2007/08/23010564.html] ] ,fruit and vegetables, to kimchi.

The Tsuruhashi and Ikuno-ku districts are also well-known for the large number of Zainichi Korean living there. Many families from Korea have lived in the Tsuruhashi district for three generations or more.
