However, it is a dark, primitive carbonaceousC-type asteroid and not related to the parent body of the Eunomia family which consists ofS-type asteroid s. Panopaea was discovered by H. Goldschmidt onMay 5 ,1861 . It was his fourteenth and last asteroid discovery. It is named afterPanopea , anymph inGreek mythology .References
