Sør-Aukra

Sør-Aukra

Sør-Aukra is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway.

It was created by the split of Aukra into Sør-Aukra and Nord-Aukra on 1 January 1924. At that time Sør-Aukra had a population of 1,395.

On 1 January 1965 Sør-Aukra merged with the islands Midøya and Dryna from Vatne municipality to form the new municipality Midsund. Prior to the merger Sør-Aukra had a population of 1,912. At the same time Nord-Aukra changed its name back to Aukra.
