History

*27 August 1899: Opens as "Sugito Station".
*16 March 1981: Station is renamed after nihongo|Tōbu Dōbutsu Kōen|東武動物公園 zoo and amusement park complex run by Tobu Group companies, which is ten minutes by walk from the station.
