Staytrix

Staytrix is a brand of mask specially made for ice hockey goaltenders.

Early history

Staytrix masks were originally produced in Denmark in 1991 by Mont Sherar under the name "Pro Form Masks". The original models were made from fiberglass but quickly evolved into exclusive use of high grade epoxy resins and aramid fibers for each model. At that stage, the name was changed to "Matrix Mask" and it became extremely popular amongs professional goalies throughout Europe during the 1990s.Fact|date=February 2007

North America

During the 1990s, a sample was shown to Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League. Star goalie Ken Wregget acquired 3 masks. One of them featured the now famous "Danny Devito Penguin" motif from Batman Returns. End of the Matrix Mask

In 2000, Sherar retired from the mask making business to devote himself to other interests in the sport industry.

Staytrix

In 2004, Sherar was contacted by mask maker Tony Stacey. They agreed to re-release the mask with new refinements and a new name: "Staytrix". Within one year of its release, the mask gained virtually 100% of the pro use in the Danish pro league.Fact|date=February 2007

Death

As seen [http://www.goaliestore.com/board/equipment-forum/61295-official-staytrix-mask-thread-13.html#post1001455 here] , Staytrix masks will no longer be produced. This is presumabally because Stacey had some recent communication issues, however, this is speculative.
