List of countries by tax revenue as percentage of GDP

This table lists countries by total 2005 tax revenues (federal, state, and local) as a percentage of GDP (Gross Domestic Product). The data for EU (European Union) countries and Norway is from EUROSTAT (Statistical Office of the European Communities). (Caveat: Data from Eurostat and OECD is not directly comparable. The Eurostat figures displayed below show a ratio that is 1 to 2 percentage points higher; in the case of Germany by 4 percentage points.)
