Ferfer is one of the 47
woreda s in theSomali Region ofEthiopia , named after its major town,Ferfer . Part of theGode Zone , Ferfer is bordered on the on the west by Mustahil, on the northwest by theKorahe Zone , on the north by theWerder Zone , and on the east and south bySomalia .This woreda is primarily inhabited by the
Rer-aw-Hasan clan of theSomali people , a small clan that is no sub-clan to any main somali clan. Founded by Aw-Hasan (Ka-wayne or Kalwayne) who was killed by theHawiye in Ubatale, Doollo in early 16th century.Fact|date=February 2007Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 39,898, of whom 18,445 were males and 21,453 were females; 4,411 or 11.06% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 25.2%.
