Arenig railway station was a railway station on the Great Western Railway's Bala Ffestiniog Line in Wales. It closed to passenger services on 4 January 1960 and freight services on 27 January 1961.

History

Opened by the Festiniog and Blaenau Railway, a line bought out by the Great Western Railway, it remained in that company through the Grouping of 1923. The station then passed on to British Railways on nationalisation in 1948. It was then closed by the British Transport Commission.

The site today

The site was taken over by the adjacent quarry after closure and the platforms and station buildings survived in a derelict state until the early 1980s. Although no trace of the platforms and buildings now remain, the site can be identified by pillars still in-situ, which were used for supporting conveyor belts running from the quarry to the station.
