The BNP-Jamat led government has allegedly continued to harass Dr. Chowdhury and his party. There have been newspaper reports of riot police and armed BNP supporters disrupting his party's and have opened tax-evasion investigations against a BNP MP who defected to the Bikilpo Dhara Bangladesh. On Saturday, April 30 a mysterious fire in his home burned a many of his possessions. The fire brigade then stated that the reason for the fire was unknown. But most likely it was an attempt to kill him or to create fear.On 26 October, 2006 Dr. Chowdhury, in collaboration with
Oli Ahmed formed a new party named LDP (Liberal Democratic Party) composed of ex BNP leaders. His new party joined with 14 party alliance led by Awami League and boycotted scheduled election on January 22, 2007.Bikrampur Persondata
