COB Speicher formerly FOB Speicher (Al Sahra Airfield under Saddam Hussein) is a
US Army Contingency Operating Base. Previously aForward Operating Base but reassigned as a COB because of its size. Installations are located nearTikrit in northernIraq , approximately 170 kilometers north ofBaghdad and 11 kilometers west of theTigris River . The airfield is served by two main runways measuring 10,000 and convert|9600|ft|m long with a shorter runway measuring convert|7200|ft|m|sing=on.Units that have been based at FOB Speicher include the 42nd Infantry Division, 101st Airborne, elements of the 1st Infantry Division, 3rd Infantry Division, 4th Infantry Division, 25th Infantry Division, 13th CS Command, 50th MSB, Bravo Co of the 434th MSB, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, HHC, Bravo Company, Delta Company 57th Signal Battalion and more. During 2004-2005, transport and logistic units based at FOB Speicher supported US units in Kirkuk, Mosul and 5 subordinate bases.
In Operation Iraqi Freedom, it is the location of the headquarters of the Multi-National Division, North, (MND-N). It is named after
