"The Cambridge Reporter" was a local daily newspaper in
Southern Ontario serving the community ofCambridge, Ontario . Founded in 1846, then called the Galt Reporter. In 1973 the paper changed its name to the Cambridge Reporter after when the city of Galt merged with the towns of Preston and Hespeler and parts of the townships of Waterloo and North Dumfries amalgamated to form Cambridge. In the 90's the paper changed from a daily paper to a twice a week paper and then in 2003 the Cambridge Reporter was closed by parentTorstar Corporation . A final paper was published Friday, September 19, 2003.Metroland Media Group which is owned by TorStar currently operates TheWaterloo Region Record and theCambridge Times which has expanded since the closure of the Cambridge Reporter.A summary of the history and demise of the paper can be found here: http://www.rrj.ca/online/463/
