HCA, a for-profit hospital corporation, purchased these hospitals in 2003 fromHealth Midwest, Inc. , a non-profit hospital corporation. HCA's focus nationwide has been to realign their facilities to better serve primary markets and avoid duplication of services.Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center , one of the HCA Midwest Hospitals, closed in April 2006.
