Awash Fentale

Awash Fentale is one of the 29 woredas in the Afar Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Administrative Zone 3, Awash Fentale is bordered on the south by the Oromia Region, on the west by the Amhara Region, on the north by Dulecha, and on the east by Amibara. Towns in Awash Fentale include Awash Sebat Kilo and Sabure.

Rivers in this woreda include the Awash and its tributary the Germama. A large portion of this woreda is occupied by the Awash National Park.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 24,970, of whom 11,909 were males and 13,061 were females; 12,684 or 50.80% of its population are urban dwellers, which is greater than the Zone average of 27.8%. Information is not available for the area of Awash Fentale, so its density cannot be calculated.
