Lukhovitsy ( _ru. Лухови́цы) is a town in
Moscow Oblast ,Russia , located on theOka River some 135 km southeast ofMoscow . Population: 32,200 (2005 est.); 32,403 (2002 Census); 32,501 (1989 Census). It is served byLukhovitsy Tretyakovo Airport .Lukhovitsy was first mentioned in 1594 as a settlement of Glukhovichi ( _ru. Глуховичи), a
votchina of aRyazan archbishop . It used to be called Lukhovichi ( _ru. Луховичи) until the mid-1920s and after that Lukhovitsy. In 1957, it was granted town status.The settlement of
Dedinovo is located some 11 km northeast of Lukhovitsy. It is known as one of the biggest centers of riverineshipbuilding in the 17th-century Russia. One of the first Russian military vessels named "Oryol" was built here in 1669.Lukhovitsy Bus Terminal is located in the town.Trivia
