sawshark of the familyPristiophoridae , found off southeastern mainlandAustralia at depths of between 100 and 630 m. Its length is up to 1.36 m.The Eastern Australian sawshark is found on offshore continental slopes. It is a large stocky sawshark with a moderately long, narrow rostral saw. The
barbel s are closer to the rostral tip than the mouth. There are 20 to 25 large lateral sawteeth, 11 to 15 before the barbels, 9 to 10 behind.Coloration is plain grey-brown above, with no spots or bars, and white below. The
rostrum has darker brownish stripes along the midline and on the edges.Its reproduction is presumed to be
ovoviviparous .References
