- St Merryn
St Merryn is a small
village in the north of thecounty ofCornwall ,England , UK. St. Merryn is approximately four miles south from the fishing port ofPadstow and approximately eleven miles north-east of the popular coastal resort ofNewquay .St. Merryn has a motto "Seven bays for seven days", displayed on the road signs as you enter the village, referring to the many bays and beaches in the vicinity which are popular with visitors. These bays are:
Trevone ,Harlyn ,Mother Ivy's Bay ,Boobys Bay and the adjoiningConstantine Bay ,Treyarnon andPorthcothan . The vast majority of these bays are on theTrevose Head peninsula.St. Merryn centres around a busy cross-roads with a
Post Office , shops and restaurants and a petrol station with garage. Also in St. Merryn are achip shop , twopub s, surf shops, a wine bar, a veterinary surgeon, a church and a village hall. Just outside the village is a riding stables.There are several campsites nearby, and there are also various hotels and short-let holiday homes.
In the summer, St. Merryn hosts a funfair and an auction at the village hall.
