Héctor Ramón Zelaya Rivera (born 12 August, 1957) is a retired Honduran football player.

Club career

Nicknamed "Pecho de Águila", he played in defense or midfield for Club Deportivo Motagua. He also played at Deportivo de La Coruña.

International career

Zelaya played three games for Honduras U-20 at the 1977 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Tunisia [ [http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/statisticsandrecords/players/player=192210/index.html Record at FIFA Tournaments] - FIFA] .

He then played in 7 World Cup qualifying matches in 1980 and 1981 [ [http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/statisticsandrecords/players/player=60317/index.html FIFA games] - FIFA] , taking Honduras to their first ever World Cup finals.

He is most famous for his goal against Spain at the 1982 FIFA World Cup, putting the "Catrachos" 1-0 up against the hosts in Valencia in their first game. Eventually, Spain needed a penalty to equalise.
