Edward Winter (chess historian)

Edward Winter is a British journalist, archivist, historian, collector and author about the game of chess. He issues a regular column, "Chess Notes," about the game. He lives in Geneva, Switzerland.

Chess Notes

Chess Notes started as a bi-monthly periodical, and was described by its author, in the first issue (January-February 1982), as "A forum for aficionados to discuss all matters relating to the Royal Pastime". In 1993, the periodical ceased publication and Chess Notes turned into a syndicated column, appearing in many languages around the world. From 1998 to 2001, it was published exclusively in "New in Chess" and subsequently appeared online at the [http://chesscafe.com Chess Café] website. Since September 2004, Chess Notes is located at the Chess History Center website.

Selected collections of Chess Notes have been published in book form, since 1996.
