Triva

Bernard went to NUI Maynooth with Eoin Battigan, son of former Dublin Minor legend Dec Battigan, he is also friends with the sons of Pat Woods (Former Dublin Minor and Under 21 Captain) and Mario Cosgrave (Former Wexford Hurling All-Star)

It has been said that Bernard's rise to the Dublin senior football panel came at the expense of good friend Alan Cosgrave. Alan had sought a transfer from Wexford but a plethora of half forwards within the Dublin panel meant Pillar Caffrey declined the Wexford's man's offer to join the panel for the 2008/09 season. Cosgrave has vowed to win a place in the Dublin faithful's hearts and with a new manager to be appointed Dublin could well have a new poster boy for the upcoming championship season.

Disgruntled sources within the Wexford camp have suggested that a "fat cheque book" would be the deciding factor behind the proposed transfer however both Alan and most notably Mario have strongly refuted any such allegations.
