Calumet College of St. Joseph is a private university affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church through the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. Its main campus is in Whiting, Indiana, with additional campuses located in Chicago, Illinois, and Merrillville, Indiana. The college was founded in 1951 as an extension of Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana. The school's total enrollment in 2006 was 1,236. Mission Statement

Calumet College of St. Joseph is a degree-granting, Catholic institution of higher educationsponsored by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood (C.PP.S.). The college prepares graduatesfor careers and graduate school with academic and professional programs based on a strongfoundation in the liberal arts and sciences. These programs are designed to empower graduates toimprove their lives and the lives of their families. In an academically challenging and flexibleenvironment dedicated to student learning, the college acknowledges and respects the dignity andworth of each individual. Serving a richly diverse student population, the college encouragesdiffering views, fosters personal growth, and promotes the formation of spiritual, moral, and ethicalvalues in support of social justice and personal responsibility.

Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ) is a small, family-oriented, four-year college offering master's, bachelor's, and associate's degrees as well as certificate programs. We serve a diverse student population that represents the Calumet area (Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois). Since many of our students work and raise families, Calumet College provides both full-time and part-time study options as well as day and evening classes that meet once or twice a week. In addition, students may be awarded credit for life experience.

Our small class sizes enhance the learning process and provide personal attention from faculty. CCSJ has no out-of-state tuition differential and is conveniently housed in a single building with plenty of free parking. The college's main campus is easy to reach: near the Skyway, Indiana Toll Road and the Cline Avenue extension, and just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago.

Athletics

Calumet College of St. Joseph's athletic teams are known as the Crimson Wave. They compete in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, an affiliate of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Men's sports offered are:baseball basketball [bowling] The Calumet College of St. Joseph men’s bowling program is now in its second season. During the 2006-07 collegiate season, the Crimson Wave men achieved great success in qualifying for the prestigious USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships, where they finished tied for 9th Place among the nation’s top 16 teams. The first year team had a high tournament finish of 4th Place, and finished the season with a national ranking of 13th. This season promises to be even more exciting, as the team has added promising new recruits to join an accomplished core of players from last season. Coaches Kubacki and Vania have set lofty goals for the CCSJ men’s program, and they, along with the entire athletic administration, are working diligently to establish the program as one of the nation’s best. With our second season nearing the halfway point, these goals are beginning to be realized. After the first five tournaments of the current season, the Crimson Wave have top finishes in all five events, including recent back-to-back 2nd Place finishes. Stay tuned, as the Crimson Wave men continue their climb toward a repeat appearance at this season’s USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships in Wichita, Kansas beginning on April 16th, 2008. The Crimson Wave is a member of The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. A split schedule allows the team to play matches in the fall and the spring.
