Events

*Vincent Michael Marino, a suspect in the 1989 shooting of [Frank Salemme|"Cadillac, is released from prison after serving 30 months on a weapons charge.
*William Bright, an imprisoned drug dealer for the Bonnano and Gambino crime families, is killed.
*January 5 - Gambino crime family captain John Gambino and soldier Joseph Gambino pleaded guilty to trafficking heroin. At their first trial on narcotics trafficking charges, former Family underboss Salvatore Gravano testified that the men ran a narcotics trafficking operation from a café located in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn and that John Gambino was made a captain in 1987 by John Gotti.
*January 24 - Bonanno crime family consigliere Anthony Spero was indicted for supervising the Family’s racketeering activities in Brooklyn, which included loansharking, illegal gambling, murder and extortion.
*March 19 - Gambino crime family associate Robert Sasso, President of IBT Local 282, pleaded guilty to extorting New York City contractors while serving as an associate of the Gambino Family.
*April 26 - Philadelphia crime family soldier Philip Colletti pleaded guilty to the August 5, 1994, murder of Michael Ciancaglini and the attempted murders of Joseph Merlino and Steven Mazzone. Colletti would then go on to testify against Family boss John Stanfa regarding his role in the war against the Joseph Merlino faction.
*November 18 - Imprisoned underboss of the Patriarca crime family Nicholas Bianco died of Lou Gehrig’s disease.
