Genoa with the suburb ofRivarolo , to the north-west of the city centre. The service is currently managed by Azienda Mobilità e Trasporti, which provides public transport for the City of Genoa,Italy .It is a 5 km-long
standard gauge (1435 mm) double line and is electrified at 750 volts DC. It has a direct connection with the underground suburban station underTrenitalia 's mainline railway station, "Principe". It was opened between the stations of "Brin " and "Dinegro " in June1990 for the World Cup of Football and extended toPrincipe in 1992, "San Giorgio-Caricamento " in 2003 and "De Ferrari " in 2005.Stations

The line is currently being extended to the east to "Brignole" (Genoa's other mainline railway station, at the eastern end of the city centre) with an intermediate stop in the Piazza Corvetto-Acquasola. This is expected to be completed in 2011 for Brignole station, some years later for the intermediate stop.
In addition, it is planned to extend the line to Val Polcevera from Brin to Canepari and from Brignole with branches to the San Martino Hospital and the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.
