Rockett Movado is arguably the most major character in the Purple Moon games. She appears in all books and games except for Secret Paths in the Forest and Secret Paths to the Sea, and is the lead and playable character in all of the Rockett's World games. In her own series, she is in grade eight, the one new student in her grade at Whistling Pines Jr. High, and learns to navigate the social scene.

The main challenge of the Rockett's World games is to figure out where the main character stands socially at school. Her one appearance in The Starfire Soccer Challenge, as well as the various endings of the games, suggest that she is a floater , and attempts by the player to integrate her with The Ones or the CSGs often fail, mostly due to the intervention of Dana or Nicole. She also has a romantic interest in Ruben Rosales and has toyed with the idea of having Jessie or even Sharla as a new best friend, although not to the level as Meg. Felicia Ravenswood has presented herself as a romantic rival, more so than Nicole, who has a sweeping interest in almost every boy in the grade, and Arnold has a crush on her.

Most things about Rockett's life before Whistling Pines are kept classified, however, many were revealed throughout the games. She has an eccentric inventor father, a mother who practices calligraphy, and two siblings: older sister Juno, whom she at once idolizes and resents because of her goddess -like quality, and younger brother Jasper, a lively and smart young boy with dyslexia. Rockett also has a best friend from her old school, Meg O'Riley, to whom she writes in her journal. In the climax of each Rockett's World game, Rockett sees Meg's face appear in the mirror when she is alone, and Meg gives her advice. It is unknown whether she is imagining it or Meg has psychic powers like Mavis, although Rockett seems to believe the former. In one of the earlier games, she also reveals that before moving, she had a romantic interest in a boy named Matt and knew a girl that was a lot like Nicole.

She keeps her birthday a secret for various reasons: as revealed in Rockett's Secret Invitation, she was born in the summer, so she could never celebrate her birthday with school friends, and she therefore shared one for celebratory purposes with Meg, whose birthday was just before winter break. In New School, Nakili Abuto, a member of the CSGs, is led to believe that Rockett is a Sagittarius and tells everyone she knows; Rockett, knowing that the astrological sign is a key to joining her group, is hesitant to reveal it until Dana finds out for herself.

The flagship character of the franchise, Rockett's poseable doll was released with Rockett's New School.
