The lizard catshark, "Schroederichthys maculatus", is a cat shark of the family Scyliorhinidae found off southern Brazil, at depths of between 122 and 435 m. Its length is up to 58 cm.

The lizard catshark is found in deep-reef habitat on the shelf break, generally in depths greater than 250 m, with deepwater gorgonians, hard corals, tube sponges, crinoids, ophiuroids, and a great number of the sympatric scyliorhinid shark freckled catshark, "Scyliorhinus haeckelii".

Reproduction is oviparous, with one egg per oviduct laid at a time. The egg capsule is greyish olive (fresh) to brownish (fixed), with a filamentous superficial texture.

Coloration includes the presence of white spots.
