Roy Hord Jr.

Roy Hord Jr. (born December 25, 1934 died October 24, 2002) was a graduate of Duke University and went on to play as an Outside Guard with the Los Angeles Rams football team from 1960 to 1962, Mid season with the Rams he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. He then joined the New York Jets in 1963 where he finished his football career in 1965. After his NFL career ended in 1965, he became general manager of Riverside International Raceway which he worked alongside former Rams player Les Richter. The raceway closed 6 years after he left in 1983, when became a legislative aide to Riverside County Supervisor Norton Younglove. Hord also served as a legislative aide to Riverside County Supervisor Tom Mullen until December.

College

Roy Was a Graduate of Duke University where he played football as was selected to an All-American team in 1957.

Military Service

After joining the Army, Hord trained at Bitburg Air Force Base in Germany. After learning Hord had been drafted by the Rams, the base commander demanded he play for Air Force teams in Europe instead of the Army.

Hord played football, basketball and baseball for the Air Force in 1958 and 1959 before starting his NFL career with the Rams.
